We’re now quite official

Idiot String is now a fiscally sponsored project of Independent Arts and Media, a San Francisco-based 501(c)3 nonprofit with a mission to  support independent, non-commercial arts and media projects that cultivate community, civic participation, cultural engagement, and free expression.

We couldn’t be prouder, especially since IAM’s “ultimate vision is to strengthen a culture of democracy by cultivating arts and media projects that engage neighbors in civic life.” Hear, hear!

And we’re in great company, as IAM also sponsors our friends at Outlook Theater Project, Now For Now and Circus Bella.

Fiscal sponsorship allows us to accept tax-deductible donations, and apply for a greater number of grants.

Introducing… Idiot String!

Hello, world! It’s us, Joan Howard and Rebecca Longworth. After a late night in early March, featuring edits to a Google Doc full of possible names, we’re “Idiot String.” Over a year after creating the Physical Theatre Salon and looking forward to the second iteration of our 2013 SF Fringe show, O Best Beloved… it’s about time to make this collaboration official. We look forward to surprising and delighting you with performances featuring a couple of idiots, and a lot of string (and rope, and pulleys, and hinges, and spinney things, and whirlygigs).

What’s an “idiot string,” you ask? A simple machine, of sorts. Of course.
