Contracts & How to Apply
There are no union contracts available for this production.
Port Stories is a highly collaborative project, and exists in the intersection of immersive, interactive, site-specific and experimental theatre. Your duties and responsibilities will therefore be a little different than in a traditional theatre setting, and each position will include opportunities for creative collaboration.
Pay is by stipend, and varies with position, as listed in the job description.
People of color and gender-non-conforming folks especially encouraged to apply.
Please contact Rebecca Longworth at firstname.lastname@example.org with your resume to arrange an interview.
Port Stories is the title of Idiot String’s next mainstage production: an interactive, site-specific performance that will take place throughout downtown Port Costa and at the historic Port Costa School in June, 2019.
Port Stories is devised collaboratively with the ensemble, directed by Rebecca Longworth, with dramaturgy by Soren Santos. Rebecca and Soren will collaborate on initial narrative structures and themes; Rebecca, Soren, and other collaborators will create the final script. Joan Howard, Design Director, will lead the aesthetic vision for the show.
Port Stories is fictional, taking inspiration from the history of Port Costa and nearby communities — a history that encapsulates experiences and themes familiar throughout the Bay Area. Themes we’re working with include:
- Migration and displacement
- Boom and bust; reckoning with acts of nature like wildfires and earthquakes; and the physical landscape of the Carquinez Strait
- Tiny (or hidden) worlds, miniatures, dioramas, and other imaginative worlds
