Associate Producer: Port Stories

Responsibilities & Opportunities:

  • You’ll support and learn the ins and outs of producing an ambitious site-specific theatrical production that’s devised collaboratively with the ensemble.
  • With the producer and publicist, you’ll lead marketing efforts including social media, word-of-mouth, email blasts, and poster/postcard distribution.
  • Alongside the producer, you’ll be responsible for making sure the designers, crew, and other collaborators have what they need for the production to run smoothly.
  • You’ll lead the Front-of-House and Box Office volunteer teams, where you’ll also meet audience members and help create an exciting experience for everyone.

Qualifications:

  • Interest and/or experience with experimental, site-specific, devised, and/or interactive theatre
  • Facility with major social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) and e-mail list platforms (Constant Contact or Mailchimp)
  • Some experience producing, stage-managing, or supporting theater, film or live events is preferred

Commitment:

  • Administrative tasks including self-paced work from home; meetings with production team; occasional visits to rehearsals; and presence at some or all performances.
  • Approx. 2 hours / week March 1 – April 15, then 10 hours / week April 1 – June 8, and 5 hours / week June 9 – 30.

  • $500 stipend

Production Assistant: Port Stories

Responsibilities & Opportunities:

  • You’ll support some rehearsals and all performances of an ambitious site-specific theatrical production that’s devised collaboratively with the ensemble.
  • You’ll build positive, creative, and collaborative relationships with an amazing group of artists.
  • You’ll help keep all aspects of the show running smoothly, including assisting with building or design projects; helping to set, strike, and/or move props and scenic elements during performances; and making the theatrical magic work.
  • You may also be asked to assist with Box Office or Front-of-House tasks, where you’ll meet audience members and help create an exciting experience for everyone.

Qualifications:

  • Interest in and/or experience with experimental, site-specific, devised, and/or interactive theatre is essential;
  • Understanding of traditional theatre production needs and schedules is preferred.

Commitment:

  • Attendance at several production meetings
  • Attendance at at least one regular rehearsal on-site; at all tech week rehearsals, and at all performances

Pay:

  • $400 stipend

Port Stories Rehearsals, Tech & Performance Dates

Weekday rehearsals take place in East Oakland and weekend rehearsals in Port Costa.

Regular rehearsals April 20 – June 1 (weeknights in East Oakland; weekend days in Port Costa)
Tech rehearsals / preview June 2 – 7 (weeknights and weekend days in Port Costa)
Opening Saturday June 8
Performance run June 8 – June 23 (Friday evenings, Saturday matinee & evening, Sunday early evening in Port Costa)
Possible extension June 28 – 30
